INMATEH

What is INMATEH?

INMATEH is an Agricultural Engineering scientific journal. The website looks to enable contributors from around the globe to easily write content for the journal, which is released once every 3 months.

There are 4 types of users, each one serves a specific purpose for the journal: contributor, reviewer, translator and editor.

Our impact

INMATEH has been built from scratch by one of our team members, between October 2019 and January 2020. Development and maintenance have been done by another team ever since then, and in November 2022 the client has asked us to fix the web application.

The project was partially functional as we began our work, with basic functionality such as signing in not working. Our first job was to assess the issues and the time needed to remediate all problems.

We then moved to create a staging environment, automate the deployment processes with Jenkins and then start fixing all issues.

Project details

INMATEH is built using React, Express (the Node.js web application framework) and it uses a NoSQL database to store the data.

The backend is secure, employing the best practices for security and having implemented very efficient role-based access control rules.

The website also has an administrator view where the editor of INMATEH has access to view and manage all of the contents of the journal, including managing the process of choosing an article to be added to the journal.

Outcome

INMATEH is live and fully functional again, and the journal has resumed releasing the journal on the planned timeline.
